How an animal hibernates or brumates depends on many things including what specific type of animal it is and the environment around it. For example, a box turtle living in an icy, cold forest will act differently in winter than a snapping turtle living in warm water. It also depends on how one defines hibernation. There are different types of hibernation and how different people use the word hibernate also makes difference.
